  • [January 2016] Dr. Elias Tragos (FORTH): Heidelberg, Germany. Presentation of the WiVi- 2020 project at EML (European Media Laboratory) during a secondment. Discussion for potential collaboration with the company followed the presentation.

  • [May 2016] Dr. Elias Tragos (FORTH): Bucharest, Romanis. Presentation of the WiVi-2020 project to Siemens SRL during a meeting for the EU project RERUM. Dr. Tragos presented the potentially useful results of WiVi-2020 for Siemens products with respect to optimizing their sevice delivery networks.

  • [September 2016] Dr. Athanasios Lioumpas (Cyta) presented an overview of the WiVi-2020 project at the 55th FITCE Congress, which took place in Athens in September 2016. The focus of the congress was the interconnected smart society of the future. The congress attended several telecom operators from Greece and Europe, standardization bodies, like 3GPP, regulatory bodies and academic organizations, such as universities and research institutes.

  • External Seminars and Invited Talks:

  • [May 2016] Prof. Chrysostomos Nikias gave an invited talk at the University of Crete, organised by both FORTH and the Unversity of Crete and was co-sponsored by the WiVi-2020 project. Prof. Nikias is the President of the University of Southern California and holds the Robert C. Packard President's Chair and the Malcolm R. Currie Chair in Technology and the Humanities, and chairs the USC Health System Board. Prof. Nikias was announced as honorary PhD of the University of Crete and deliver a speech. Moreover, Prof. Nikias also had a meeting with the recruited researchers of FORTH giving them invaluable advices on pursuing excellent research and how they can quickly advance their careers.

  • [September 2016] Dr. Alessandro Bassi (Alessandro Bassi Consultings) was invited to give a talk at FORTH at an event co-organised with the MC-IAPP project SOrBet. Dr. Bassi is an expert in Internet of Things (IoT), being the technical coordinator of a lighthouse IoT project called IoT-A (Internet of Things Architecture) and is also an innovation manager and a business consultant. His speech was related with business opportunities regarding IoT and how innovative research can lead to new products and services. The FORTH fellows of WiVi-2020 attended the speech and gained new knowledge in the area of IoT, which is enabled by M2M communications and virtualization, which are two key working areas of WiVi-2020.
